What is this? Paint? Actual real, messy paint with brushes/knives/fingers/etc...?

Yep, it's been a long time coming but I finally decided that digital art just didn't quite satisfy my urge to create something beautiful. I'm not saying that digital art isn't beautiful, but I just lost the passion for it (although that is slowly coming back). Instead, I turned to something I haven't bothered with over the best part of the last decade: painting.

I first took up a paintbrush (with the exception of school work, of course) when I was twelve years of age. My mum and I met an artist exhibiting his oil paintings at our local social club and he agreed to give me lessons. Sadly, adolescence eventually had other plans for me. I have since gone back to the oils and also experimented with watercolours (much less messy, but I have to admit I don't get on with them too well), so I thought it wouldn't hurt to post a few pieces on here. Feel free to tell me if you think they're terrible!

Speaking of things that are a long time coming, I am finally, FINALLY, in Germany again :) I am spending the next academic year as a teaching assistant in Hamburg and it's already awesome :D If you have Twitter, I'm sure I'll be tweeting a lot about it (among other, pointless tweets). You can find my Twitter account and other links over on

In the meantime, enjoy the last few summer days, and a very happy autumn to you all :)

Ooh, look, space!

My gallery suddenly looks very empty, because since I've been failing to add anything new for the past six months, I decided to chuck some stuff out instead. I might have a ruthless moment again and throw some more out. It's all in the hopes of adding some nice new stuff. Most likely hopeless hopes.

Enjoy the space. Wait another 6 months and I might have one more deviation to add. Hopefully ;)

Still alive! Just thought I'd post a little update for those of you who care, don't care, or wish I didn't exist ;)

I know it's been a while since I posted anything. I have been working on a few pieces, but I don't have the time to sit at a computer for hours any more, and I've been focusing what time I do have on either searching for a graduate job or writing. I don't check DA much any more either, which is sad, but it's nice to have lots of awesome art to look at when I do get chance!

So, expect some art at some point, hopefully in the not too distant future, but in the meantime hope you're all doing awesomely well :)

Ta ta!

And I still can't believe it's over :o
Now I just have one last project and a few exams in May, then I'll be done with uni forever.

Eh, I don't remember the last time I wasn't stressed about something.
Still waiting for exam results, and I have to have my dissertation relatively finished in just over two weeks.
Don't expect many submissions any time soon.
Roll on June!

I got stuck at 9502 words. Well, not really stuck, I just didn't have enough time to dedicate to it, so I gave up about a week ago. I'm a little disappointed, but it couldn't be helped, and I don't regret it too much considering the amount of uni work I got done instead! I had deadlines for pretty much every week of November, and I've got about a third of my dissertation written, so I can't complain ;)

I'm not giving up on the novel though. In spite of only having a vague idea of where it was going at the start of November, it has now become the first novel in progress that actually has a pretty well planned plot, and I'm determined to finish it. There's always next year after all, or even Camp Nanowrimo in the summer :D I might even put up some novel excerpts on here, so watch this space ;)

Ta ta for now :P

I don't know why I decided to do it. But I did. A vague idea drifted through my mind some weeks back, and I shelved it, until last week when I attended a local kick-off party out of curiosity (full of awesome people). They asked me to write down my plot, so I did, and I became intrigued by it.

It's going to be interesting. I like this plot. It's brand new and full of characters and things that I want to discover. It didn't want to be shelved for long. It wants to be written this month. We'll see if we get to 50K again this time. If I don't, you know it's because I've been too busy working hard for uni ;) Can't afford to take it too seriously this year!

Good luck fellow Wrimos ;)

... is probably nothing exciting to you guys. However, it is to me. Exciting and stressful and important. I'm a final year student at uni, meaning I have a dissertation to write, graduate jobs to apply for, lectures to attend, and to top that off, my tutors are piling on the work (you'd think they'd go a bit easier on us, but no :/). I've also joined a shit load of societies, so I'm out of the house most evenings during the week, or else doing work/seeing friends. Therefore, I probably won't be submitting things all that often. Which isn't really bad for me, I don't spend much time on the computer any more. But that doesn't mean I won't miss you guys!

Ta ta and take care for now,

Exams are over. Big hurray :)

I'm leaving for Munich on Friday, going to see what that is all about :)
Visiting an old friend in Hessen next week, and then perhaps on to Frankfurt.
Might be able to cram Cologne in as well. We'll see :D
And then I'll be spending a few days with a friend in their family's caravan,
someplace up near Berlin.

After that I'll be leaving Germany :( But it's not so bad.
I get to go home (Spain) for a couple of weeks in August. That's gonna
be great :D Not been home for about two years :O

Today has been sunny, stormy (super duper stormy), sunny again, and excessing in uni work.
My idea of a break was making yet another orange deviation and tumbling excessively for an hour.

The storm was the best thing all day. The rain was horizontal. Not seen rain like that for a while.

I was Madonna last night. And a 20s flapper girl the night before, feathers and all.
I also had way too much tequila.
The flashbacks are still trickling in.

All in all, a hilarious weekend.
But it's kind of a relief that it's over ;)

I've been here a week, and there is no way on this earth I could have foreseen how good it has been already. The city is beautiful, and I made friends straight away, really good friends. And I haven't stopped being busy =)

My German sucks, but hey, I'm trying. I'll get there.

But for now, I'm busy living.
And it feels great =)
